Quick Questions
Predefined question buttons that guide visitors and boost engagement from the very first interaction.
What It Does
Quick Questions adds a row of clickable question buttons above the chat input. Instead of staring at a blank input field, visitors see ready-made questions they can tap to start a conversation instantly.
Think of them as conversation starters β they remove the "what should I ask?" friction and show visitors exactly what your bot can do.
Quick Questions appear before the conversation starts β they're fixed prompts you define in the admin panel. Suggestions appear after each bot response and are dynamically generated by the AI. Both work great together: Quick Questions start the conversation, Suggestions keep it flowing.
Why Use Quick Questions?
π― Reduce friction
Many visitors don't know what to type. A blank chat input can feel intimidating. Quick Questions solve this by offering one-tap conversation starters that feel effortless.
π Increase engagement
Chatbots with visible prompts see significantly higher interaction rates. Visitors are far more likely to click a button than compose a question from scratch.
π§ Guide the conversation
You control the initial direction. Want visitors to ask about pricing? Services? Support? Put those questions front and center.
β¨ Showcase capabilities
Quick Questions tell visitors what your bot can do. A question like "Can you help me schedule an appointment?" immediately signals that booking is available.
How It Looks
Quick Questions appear as pill-shaped buttons stacked vertically above the chat input area. They share the same visual style as AI Suggestions (same colors, same font), creating a consistent look:
- Up to 4 questions visible at a time β the rest are accessible by scrolling
- A small toggle arrow lets visitors expand or collapse the question bar
- After the visitor sends their first message (or clicks a Quick Question), the bar automatically collapses to make room for the conversation
- Visitors can re-expand the bar at any time by clicking the toggle
If you have GDPR consent enabled, Quick Questions are hidden until the visitor grants consent. This prevents interaction before the privacy agreement is accepted.
Setup (2 Steps)
1. Enable Quick Questions
- Go to AxiaChat AI β Bots
- Edit your bot and scroll to the "Extras" accordion section
- Toggle on "Quick Questions"
2. Add Your Questions
- Once enabled, a list of text fields appears
- Type one question per field
- Click the "+ Add" button to add more questions
- Click the "Γ" button next to any question to remove it
- Changes are saved automatically
Each button displays the full question text. Long questions will wrap and look cluttered. Aim for 5β10 words per question for the best visual result.
How It Works
- The widget loads and displays the Quick Questions bar above the input field
- Visitor clicks a question button
- The question text is placed in the input field and sent automatically β no extra tap needed
- The Quick Questions bar collapses to give more room to the conversation
- The AI responds as if the visitor typed the question manually
- The toggle arrow remains visible β the visitor can re-expand the bar anytime
Writing Effective Quick Questions
The best Quick Questions are short, specific, and action-oriented. They should reflect the most common visitor intents for your business.
Golden rules
| Rule | Why | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Keep it short | Fits the button, looks clean | "What are your prices?" β
"Can you please tell me about the different pricing plans and their details?" β |
| Be specific | Gets a useful answer | "Do you offer free shipping?" β
"Tell me about your services" β |
| Use natural language | Feels like a real question | "How do I book an appointment?" β
"Appointment booking procedure" β |
| Cover diverse topics | Appeals to different visitors | Mix pricing + support + features + contact |
| Match your training | Gets accurate responses | Only ask what your bot is trained to answer |

Quick Questions work seamlessly with the rest of AxiaChat's feature set:
| Feature | How they work together |
|---|---|
| Context & RAG | Quick Questions trigger the same RAG pipeline β if you ask "What services do you offer?", the bot searches your trained content to answer accurately. |
| AI Suggestions | After the Quick Question is answered, the AI generates follow-up suggestions to keep the conversation going. Quick Questions start it, Suggestions continue it. |
| Lead Capture | A Quick Question like "Can I get a free quote?" can trigger the lead capture tool to collect the visitor's contact info before providing the answer. |
| Appointments | "How do I book an appointment?" as a Quick Question directly drives visitors into the booking flow. |
| AI Tools | Quick Questions can trigger any AI tool β web search, email notifications, custom webhooks, or MCP server calls. |
| GDPR Consent | Quick Questions are hidden until consent is granted, ensuring compliance. |
| File Uploads | After clicking a Quick Question, visitors can still attach files in their follow-up messages. |

Best Practices
How many questions?
- 3β5 questions is the sweet spot for most sites
- Fewer than 3 feels sparse β you're not showcasing enough
- More than 6 can feel overwhelming β visitors won't read them all
- The bar scrolls vertically showing 4 at a time, so adding a 5th is fine
Order matters
- Put your highest-intent question first β the one that drives the most conversions
- Follow with informational questions that orient new visitors
- End with a support or contact question as a fallback
Match your bot's training
- Only include questions your bot can actually answer well
- If your bot is trained on pricing info, include a pricing question
- If it doesn't have appointment booking, don't suggest it as a Quick Question
- Test each Quick Question yourself before going live
Review and iterate
- Check your Logs & Analytics to see which questions visitors actually click
- Rotate questions seasonally ("Any Black Friday deals?" during November)
- A/B test different question sets to find the highest engagement
Troubleshooting
Quick Questions don't appear
- Verify "Quick Questions" is toggled on in Bots β Extras
- Make sure you've added at least one question in the input fields
- If GDPR consent is enabled, the bar is hidden until consent is granted β this is by design
Questions look too long / truncated
- Shorten your question text to 5β10 words
- Rephrase for brevity: "What does a full kitchen renovation typically cost?" β "How much does a renovation cost?"
Bar doesn't collapse after sending
- The bar collapses automatically when any message is sent (not just Quick Question clicks)
- If it's not collapsing, ensure your plugin JavaScript files are up to date β clear any caching plugins
Quick Questions don't appear on external embeds
- Make sure your plugin is updated β Quick Questions support in the embed loader requires the latest version
- Verify the bot has Quick Questions enabled and saved before generating the embed code
Compatibility
- β All AI providers (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini)
- β Floating and inline widgets
- β Shortcode and global widget
- β External JS Embed
- β Works alongside Suggestions, Lead Capture, Appointments, Tools, File Uploads
- β GDPR consent integration
- β Mobile responsive
