Is AxiaChat AI free?

Yes! The free plan is not a demo — it's a fully featured product. It includes 1 chatbot with full RAG training, complete UI customization, WooCommerce compatibility, AI tools and usage analytics. You only need an API key from an AI provider (Google Gemini even offers a free tier). Paid plans exist for specific scale/integration/agency needs, starting from $6/mo equivalent.

Is the free plan enough for most businesses?

Yes — for roughly 8 out of 10 businesses. The free plan covers the essential features to run a professional AI assistant in production. It is not a trial and not a crippled version. Most small businesses, freelancers, service sites, and many WooCommerce stores can operate successfully on free.

What do I actually pay for?

You only pay your AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini) for API usage. Typical cost is around $0.001–$0.01 per conversation, and many medium sites can handle hundreds of monthly chats for under $10/month in API cost. No hidden subscription markups or surprise fees from AxiaChat AI.

Do I need coding skills?

No. Everything is configured through the WordPress admin panel. The Easy Config wizard walks you through the initial setup automatically.

Which AI providers are supported?

OpenAI (GPT-5.2 Instant/Thinking, GPT-5.1, GPT-5, GPT-4o), Anthropic Claude 4.x, and Google Gemini (Pro/Flash). Each bot can use a different provider. See AI Providers.

Can I use my own API key?

Yes — AxiaChat AI uses your own API keys. There's no middleman. Your data goes directly from your WordPress site to the AI provider.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Products are automatically available as a content source. Price, stock, and SKU are injected fresh with every query (no re-indexing needed when prices change).

Training & Context

How does the bot learn about my site?

The Easy Config wizard scans your content and creates embeddings (numerical representations). When a user asks a question, the system finds the most relevant content chunks and includes them in the AI prompt. This is called RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation). See Context & RAG.

Can I upload PDF files?

Yes. Go to AxiaChat AI → Training → Context → Manage Context, and use the PDF/TXT upload card. Drag and drop your files — they're processed automatically.

Do I need to re-index when I update my content?

If you have AutoSync enabled, the system detects changes and re-indexes automatically. Otherwise, you need to click "Save & Index" manually. For WooCommerce products, price and stock data are always fresh — no re-indexing needed.

Does it work with Elementor / WPBakery / Divi?

Yes. The indexer expands shortcodes and strips HTML. For Elementor, there's a special fallback that reads the JSON widget data directly if the standard extraction doesn't capture enough text.

What's the maximum content I can index?

The Easy Config wizard handles up to 200 items. With manual context management, there's no hard limit — it depends on your hosting resources and whether you use local storage or Pinecone.

Costs & Pricing

How much does the AI API cost?

It depends on model and traffic, but a typical range is $0.001–$0.01 per conversation. For many businesses, monthly costs stay low (often under $10) with sensible limits and model choice. Google Gemini also offers a free tier for getting started. See Usage Limits & Cost Control.

Can I control spending?

Yes. Set per-user and global daily limits in AxiaChat AI → Bots → Conversation Limits. The plugin also tracks tokens and estimated costs per conversation.

Can I start for free?

Yes — use the free plan with a Google Gemini free-tier API key for a zero-cost start. Upgrade only if you need more bots, advanced integrations, or agency-scale features.

What is the difference vs platforms like Jotform, ManyChat, or Tidio?

Two core differences: business model and data ownership.

• Business model: many SaaS chatbot tools charge recurring monthly subscriptions and act as intermediaries, which usually makes total cost higher over time. AxiaChat runs directly on your WordPress site and you pay your AI provider directly, so you can choose lower-cost models and control spend more precisely.
• Data ownership: with AxiaChat, conversations, training context, and configuration stay in your own WordPress environment. You are not tied to a third-party chatbot cloud as the primary data owner.

If you stop paying a SaaS platform, service access is often reduced or suspended. With AxiaChat, the free tier can continue running, your data remains on your server, and paid-only features depend on your active license.

Features

Can the bot capture leads?

Yes. Enable the Lead Capture add-on and the bot collects name, email, phone, etc. during conversation. Store internally, in Google Sheets, CF7, WPForms, or via webhook. See Lead Capture.

Can it book appointments?

Yes. Uses an internal calendar or integrates with Bookly, Amelia, SSA, or Google Calendar. See Appointments.

Can I have the bot hand off to a human?

Yes, with LiveChat (Professional plan). The bot transfers the conversation to a human agent with full history. See LiveChat.

Can the bot search the web?

Yes. All three providers support native web search. Enable it per-bot in the AI Tools section. See AI Tools.

Can the bot show images?

Yes. Index featured images and instruct the bot to use Markdown image syntax. See Images in Chat.

Can I connect it to external services?

Yes, via Webhooks (HTTP endpoints for n8n, Zapier, Make, custom APIs) or MCP Servers (Model Context Protocol standard).

Privacy

Is it GDPR compliant?

AxiaChat AI includes tools for GDPR compliance: consent banner, optional IP anonymization, data export, conversation deletion, and logging controls. See Privacy & GDPR.

Where is data stored?

All data is stored in your WordPress database. Conversations go directly from your server to the AI provider — no intermediary servers from the plugin.

Can I disable logging?

Yes. Turn off conversation logging in AxiaChat AI → Settings. The chat continues to work, just without persistent records.

Technical

What are the requirements?

WordPress 5.0+, PHP 7.4+, and at least one AI provider API key.

Does it slow down my site?

No. The widget loads asynchronously and only makes API calls when the user actually chats. No impact on page load speed.

Can I use it on multiple sites?

The free plan covers 1 site. Paid plans include multiple sites: Starter covers 2 sites, Standard 5, and Professional up to 20. Check pricing plans for details.

How do I debug issues?

Enable server-side debugging with define('AICHAT_DEBUG', true); in wp-config.php. For frontend debugging, add ?aichat_debug=1 to any page URL. See Troubleshooting.
